Spray Operator

Job Title: Spray Operator
Reporting to: Technical Manager
Contract: Permanent

Main Duties:

  • Ensuring that all elements of the storage, transportation and application of pesticides is done in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Calibration of spraying equipment to ensure that the correct rate is being applied to the crop.
  • Preparing spray equipment for annual NSTS testing.
  • Collecting CPD points to maintain NRoSO registration.
  • Carry out general maintenance on spray equipment where necessary.
  • Notifying line manager about any problems incurred whilst preparing for or during a spray application.
  • Be responsible for own Personal Protective Equipment including recorded checking of respirator/tractor cab filters and notifying line manager of any PPE requirements.
  • Maintaining the spray filling area, ensuring that it is in a clean and tidy state and compliant with all environmental regulations.
  • Disposal of pesticide containers in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Maintaining Muddyboots GLGM records

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hold a recognised qualification (PA1, PA6, etc)- desirable but full training will be provided.
  • Previous experience spraying and tractor driving – desirable but full training will be provided.
  • Clean UK/EU Driving Licence – essential.
  • Have a basic knowledge of pesticides and their use (together with integrated crop management techniques) and focus on increasing knowledge through appropriate training.
