Job Title: Harvest Manager
Reporting to: Production Manager
Contract:  Permanent
Start: March

Main Duties:

  • Ensure all staff are properly qualified and trained for the safe completion of their duties.
  • Ensure all work carried out is completed with full Health and Safety awareness.
  • Ensure that SBCo product meet safety, legality and quality requirements .
  • Produce detailed crop plans and labour requirements.
    Understand the technical challenges for the specific crops and any relevant quality issues.
  • Organise the logistical aspects of the harvest both on a long and short term, from weekly forecasts to daily schedules.
  • Manage the harvest team.
  • Monitor earning levels and ensure they are comparative with company policy (minimum wage).
  • Acquire a good understanding of all harvest cost structures, including budgets and targets.
  • Plan harvest (3-week estimate, people, field rotations, etc).
  • Set the picking price and rates.
  • Ensure that fruit meet all quality requirements and are handled in correct way to ensure quality and shelf life.
  • Ensure harvest staff efficiency and motivation.
  • Work in line with the harvest budget.
  • Communication with packhouse.
  • During late Autumn – Winter time – involved in helping managing in the Husbandry Department.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Flexibility on working hours
  • Minimum 2 years of experience within the soft fruit industry.
  • Experience managing teams and individuals.
  • Good communication and computer skills.
