The Summer Berry Company has won three Gold awards at the Excellent Taste Awards in London, with two strawberry varieties and one raspberry recognised among the industry’s finest tasting fruit.
Petra and Karima strawberries, alongside raspberry variety Malaika, all received Gold following blind sensory evaluation by a panel of food specialists.

Every product was assessed unbranded, with judges given no prior knowledge of the brand. The awards also apply additional validation measures – cross-tasting by separate judging panels and repeat tastings – ensuring each product is judged solely on its sensory qualities.

Petra, bred by Italian breeder Franco Zenti, was recognised for its consistently high eating quality, bright red colour and extremely good flavour.
Karima, developed by Italian breeder Mattivi, received Gold for its distinctive flavour profile, combining sweetness with a juicy texture while maintaining excellent shelf life and an attractive appearance.
Completing the trio was Malaika, developed by Advanced Berry Breeding, recognised for its low acidity, excellent flavour, and an impressively large calibre.
